Effect of Strengthening Exercises Using the Agonist- Antagonist Paired Set and Traditional Set Methods on Single-Leg Hop Performance

Background: Functional activities mostly done in daily life such as jumping, walking, running, and stairs ascending-descending require dynamic stability of the knee. The knee joint is required to have effective efficient functional avoid injury when performing them. It can be achieved by increasing muscle strength through strengthening exercises with aim balancing agonist muscles (quadriceps femoris) antagonist (hamstring) using agonist- paired set (APS) method.Aim: this study find out effect exercise APS method, compared traditional (TS) on single-leg hop performance.Material Methods: subjects were 14 untrained healthy men aged 18-40 years old divided into 2 intervention groups, group TS group. variable evaluated was distance (SLH).Results: results showed a significant increase SLH (p=0.005) (p<0.001) no difference between two groups (p = 0.933).Conclusion: Quadriceps femoris hamstring both methods although there method has an advantage terms relatively shorter time comparable results.
